James William "Bill" Scott

July 31, 1928 - August 31, 2018

James William Bill Scott James William "Bill" Scott, 90, of Crossville, was born the oldest of 10 children July 31, 1928, in Crab Orchard, to Jim and Ova (Davis) Scott, whom he affectionately referred to simply as "mommy and daddy." Surrounded by his loving family, Bill peacefully passed from this life on Aug. 31, 2018, to live eternally with Christ in the presence of God.
In 1993, he retired as general plant foreman after 42 years with what was then known as Franklin Limestone, in Crab Orchard. Except for a brief time in Cleveland, OH, Bill was a lifelong resident of Cumberland County. He lived in Crab Orchard until 1971, when he moved to the Cumberland Homesteads. He was a member of Crab Orchard Church of God of Prophecy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Wilma Jean Scott, Crossville; daughter, Freda (Wayne) Thompson, Murfreesboro; daughter, Pam (Eddie) Willis, Murfreesboro; son, Ron (Carolyn) Scott, Crossville; sister, Ann Cutshall, Greeneville; five grandchildren, Chris Thompson (Susan), Murfreesboro, Shea Russell (David), Murfreesboro, Scott Willis, Murfreesboro, Joshua Scott (Kalithea), Toronto, Canada, Jonathan Scott (Ivy), Crossville; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher Wilson, Brittany Gilbert, Samuel, Jeremiah, and Sara Thompson, and Mason and Evan Russell; one great-great-grandchild, Addison Mae Davenport; and a host of other relatives, friends and special neighbors.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, and a great-granddaughter, Baby Rose Russell.
Pallbearers were Chris Thompson, David Russell, Scott Willis, Josh Scott, Calvin Henry, Jonathan Scott, Samuel Thompson and Mason Russell. Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Wilson, Sara Thompson, Brittany Gilbert, Jeremiah Thompson and Evan Russell.
Funeral services were held at Crab Orchard Church of God of Prophecy Sept. 3, 2018, at 11 a.m., with Bro. Terry Swaw and Bro. Glenn Creasy officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery.
