James Leroy Powell, 83, of Crossville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at Cumberland House in Crossville.
He was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Clinton, TN, son of the late James David Powell and Nellie Mae (Perry) Powell.
James worked as a police officer in Washington, DC, and was of the Baptist faith. He also proudly served his country in Army.
He is survived by his daughter, Anissa Powell, Soddy Daisy, TN; sons, Richard Powell and Steve (Lori) Powell, all of Crossville; and sisters, Brenda Yehl of Florida and Mary Jenkins of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Marie Powell; daughter, Diane Marie Powell; brother, John Powell; and sisters, Joann Powell and Reba Chapman.
Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Mahan officiating. Interment in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
