James Homer Thor Gayheart

October 16, 1984 - August 05, 2018

James Homer Thor Gayheart, 33, of Crossville, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018. He died doing what he had a passion for, riding his motorcycle.
He was born in Inverness, FL, to the late Edgar and Susan Gayheart on Oct. 16, 1984. He is survived by his wife, Monica Gayheart; his three sons, Kristopher, Kaleb and Kyle; his daughter, Katelynn; as well as his five sisters, Julie Pleasant, Donya Gayheart, Lucinda Snedeker, Jennifer Swain and Erica Hale; his brother, Edgar (Bo) Gayheart; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and so much more family and friends.
He loved his family more than anything in this entire world. He had such a big heart. He loved doing whatever he could to help others which led him to become a volunteer firefighter for the Cumberland County Fire Department. Anybody who new James could tell you he had the biggest heart of anyone you'd ever meet. He had the most beautiful smile and such a contagious laugh. He never met a stranger and he always managed to make friends everywhere he went. James touched so many lives and he will be dearly missed by all.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.

James was my neighbor when I lived in TN last year ... he was a sweet man who helped me whenever I needed him (I'm an older California woman who lived alone in the country for the first time - kinda scared - without a dog nor a gun). He was my first experience of southern manners ... he called me mam, mowed my driveway, and scared hunters off of my non-hunting property. My heart breaks for his wife & children, and everyone else who knew & love him ... of which there are plenty.

Monica, we never met, but I am praying for you, your children, & your family. Right now I pray for His arms to hold you.

Monica and kids,

I lived in Crossville as you know and you guys were the only couple Jack and I loved to hang out with. You treated us and our kids so great. Monica if you need anything you call me. 980.234.1556. James was a great soul who loved his family and the Lord. He was a beautiful man inside and out. I loved your love story and you both. I will be praying for peace for the entire family. I love you all!

I wish I could have told him just one more time how much I loved him. He will always be more like a big brother to me and someone that I look up too. Uncle James always knew how to make everyone’s day and would make just about anyone laugh. He will always be such an incredible person in everyone’s mind and he will never be forgotten. Aunt Monica you are so strong and so kind, I know how much you loved uncle James and I know how much you will miss him but God will never put you in a situation that he knows you can’t handle. All of the family will help you and be there for you and the kids whenever you need it. Uncle James is now watching over everyone in heaven right along side of mom m...om and grandad! 💙❤️Read more

I'm so sorry for all the loss in this family. I don't know hardly anyone. Kent tells me stories. One day at a time. I've had so much loss in my life. And parents last 4 yrs. I'm here anytime. Your children gives you strength and guidance. God bless you all.💜

God needed an angel to protect and he knew who would be perfect for that job. A man that never turned away from fear and as James would say “invincible” :-) we love you and you will be greatly missed xoxo. Monica, you are a true hero! You held a family together despite what obstacle you had to face. You have raised 4 beautiful amazing kids and God knew who could do this job. You are the strongest woman I know and you will never be alone, when you feel weak you know who’s beside you always and forever xoxo
