James Wesley Dutcher


James Wesley Dutcher, 87, of Fairfield Glade, passed away May 10, 2019, at Cumberland House.
He was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Indianola, NE, son of the late Wesley Dutcher and Margaret (McNerny) Dutcher. The family moved to the Los Angeles, CA, area in 1941.
Jim served proudly serving in the Army during the Korean War, being awarded a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Shortly after leaving military service, Jim became a cabinet maker. His career led him to Vista Furniture Manufacturer in Anaheim, CA, where Jim became the production manager. When the owner of Vista retired, Jim also retired. At the age of 50, Jim made a major change in his life, following a dream. Jim went to Porterville Farrier School and became a certified journeyman farrier. Jim was a very successful farrier from 1980 until retiring in 2004. He was farrier to several celebrities having ranches in Palm Springs, as well as to show barns and trainers in San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
Jim and Sandra moved to Tennessee in 2010. Jim was a member of Central Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Dutcher; stepchildren, Wade (Vlada) DeRosier, Shannon (Robert) Bennett and Chad DeRosier; as well as stepchildren, Karen Borders, Kimberly Burns and Ursula Wheeler. He has 11 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his first wife, Tonette Dutcher, mother to his stepchildren; a son, Wesley Thomas Dutcher; a daughter, Victoria Dutcher; brothers, John Dutcher and Jerry Dutcher; and sisters, Joanne Dutcher and Mona Dutcher.
Memorial services will be held at Central Baptist Church on Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Roland Smith officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA, on July 17, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Folds of Honor or Wounded Warriors.
