Howard Stanley Knapp Sr., 86, of Crossville, passed away at his home on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017.
He was born Friday, July 24, 1931, in Nyack, NY. Howard proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for the public school system as a school bus driver and then he worked as a firefighter for Central Nyack Fire Department, of which he was a lifetime member.
Howard enjoyed watching the Grand Ole Opry and his Sunday NASCAR races. Most of the time when you walked into his home you would be greeted by the sound of him playing his piano. But most of all, he loved sitting in his chair on the front porch telling stories about the good old days and watching his great grandbabies run around and play.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Knapp and Elizabeth Taylor Bowman, both of Crossville; and sons, Howard Knapp Jr., Billy Knapp, Harral Sargent and Billy Dellilo of New York and Andrew Taylor of Crossville. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Knapp; daughter, Sandra Knapp; and mother, Carolyn DeGraw.
Funeral services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at 7 p.m. with Bro. Delvin Marsh and Bro. Bernard Barton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc. (www.bilbreyfh.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
