Geneva's Story

Geneva Ann Brown Bumbalough Tier, 74, of McMinnville, TN, formerly of Norton, KS, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at River Park Hospital in McMinnville.
Born on Nov. 15, 1943, Geneva was the second child born to Hollis C. and Lora A. Brown of Crossville. She attended Cline School, Dorton School and was a member of the graduating class of 1963 from Cumberland County High School. Later in life Geneva returned to school earning her LPN and RN. She worked in the nursing field the majority of her life.
Geneva's love for helping others extended beyond nursing into the entire community. Wherever she was she could be counted on to volunteer her time and resources to anyone in need. She was widely known for excellence in quilting, crocheting, knitting and sewing. One of her greatest pleasures was gifting people with the beautiful items she created. She was active in the Rebekas and the Eagles for many years.
She is survived by her children, Michael Bumbalough, Dawn Van Lew and Mary Herring (Phil); grandchildren, Stephen Pressley (LaQuita), Michael Pressley (Bridgett), Dawn Herring and Ashley Herring; great grandchildren, Adelyn Pressley, Emery Pressley and Jadzia Herring; and sisters, Beverly Pugh, Helen Pierce, Loretta Brown and Rebecca Phillips (Kyle).
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Hood Funeral Home. Burial was in Turner Cemetery.
