Gary H. Mize Gary H. Mize, 73, passed away Oct. 3, 2018, in Crossville, where he has resided for the past 20 years with his wife Lila. Gary was born in Shelbyville, IL, on Dec. 7, 1944, the third son of William Herman Mize and Gladys Eagleton Mize. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and one grandson, Jacob Stuart Matherly.
Gary leaves his wife, Lila Mize; four daughters and one son, Gina Smith of Pineville, NC, Susan Lockhart of Crossville, Becky (Joe) Luka of Decatur, IL, Lanette (Greg) Lucado of Lynchburg, VA, and Gary L. (Amanda) Mize of Crossville. He leaves three brothers, Stanley (Judy) Mize of Sevierville, TN, Richard (Linda) Mize of Dunnellon, FL, and Michael Mize of Stewardson, IL; two sisters, Carolyn (Glenn) Ruff of Shelbyville, IL, and Cheryl (Dennis) Woods, of Shelbyville, IL; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Bill) Davis of Westmoreland, TN, and Charlotte Butler of Charleston, IL.
Gary served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966. He was married to Lila (Payne) Mize on July 1, 1967, and they were marred for 51 years. He was a welder at Caterpillar, Inc. in Decatur, IL, for 30 years before moving to Crossville.
Gary was a former member and Elder of Mound Road Christian Church in Decatur, a current member of the UAW Local 751 in Decatur, IL, and a member and Elder of First Christian Church in Crossville.
Gary loved his family and had a passion for his home and music. He enjoyed playing his guitar and working outside, but God was consistently first in his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Christian Church, Crossville, or Hospice of Cumberland County.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
