Elaine Elizabeth (Landry) Rhea, 76, daughter of the late Irene (Vachon) Landry and Eugene Landry, was born on Feb. 14, 1940, in Fitchburg, MA. Elaine went to be with her lord and savior in the early hours of Dec. 21, 2016.
After moving to California at age 15 she went on to be a social worker for the Department of Social Services for San Diego County for most of her life; however, her yearning to contribute to society did not end there. Whether it was volunteering for the American Legion, the VFW, helping newborn babies by knitting blankets for Project Lioness or hats for child cancer patients, she proved that there truly was no limit to how much love you could give. She involved herself in the Red Hat Society and enjoyed playing cards and line dancing at the Crossville Senior Center. She will never be forgotten and will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
She was predeceased by her son David A. Rhea, and is survived by sons Carl D. Rhea and Larry D. Rhea. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Tony Winfield, Anthony Rhea, Tamara Glidewelll, Angela Moller, Danielle Rhea, Matthew Rhea and Alex Rhea. She also had seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Jan. 3, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
