Dorothy's Story

May 6, 1934—Dec. 17, 2015 Dorothy Dolores “Dee” Kuster, of Santa Fe, NM, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe after a stroke brought on by hip surgery following a fall. She was 81. She is survived by her two sons, Miles Canada, Saratoga, CA, and Curtis Canada, Santa Fe, NM; and two grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Kuster. Dolores was born in Yount, MO, on May 6, 1934, to Elmer and Esther (Bowling) Thompson. She studied at William Woods College and worked for many years as a legal secretary. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Dolores enjoyed sewing, knitting and painting and delighted in her faithful Tibetan Terrier, Buddy. She was married to Arthur Kuster in 1979. Upon retiring the couple moved to Tennessee, finally settling in Crossville where they were active members of the First United Methodist Church. Together they enjoyed many retirement years gardening, traveling the country with their fifth wheel, sampling local foods and gathering recipes. She will be interred alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service (www.berardinellifuneralhome.com) was in charge of arrangements.
