Donald C. Seaman, 81, went to be with his Lord on July 3, 2016, at the Cumberland Hospice House.
He was born in Grand Rapids, MI, on Sept. 25, 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Seaman and Lillian (Smith) Nugent. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for two years in the Philippines.
He attended barber school and had his own barber shop in Muskegon, MI, for several years before joining the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. He later became a carrier supervisor and retired from there in 1992. He then moved to Tennessee.
Don enjoyed woodworking and remodeling homes. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He loved to take road trips and had visited almost every state in the U.S. Don had a great sense of humor and his friends never knew what to expect.
He is survived by his wife, Leah, of 38 years; two sons, Donald R. (Julie) of Mentor, OH, and Jason of Cleveland, TN; one daughter, Nancy Seaman, of Chesterfield, MO; four grandchildren, Meagan, Jordan, Bailey and Thomas; one great grandchild, Corbin; and one sister, Beverly Belton of Fulton, NY.
A celebration of life service will be held at First Congregational Church of Crossville on Thursday, July 14, beginning at 1:30 p.m. A luncheon will precede the service at noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cumberland County, 30 E. Adams St., Crossville, TN 38555.
