David Alan's Story
David Alan George Ferry, 85, son of Raymond and Jane (Hay) Ferry, passed away Dec. 17, 2016, at Life Care Center of Crossville.
He was born in London, England, and lived in Spain and Canada before moving to New Jersey when he was entering his junior year of high school. After graduating from Bridgeton High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in a SAC command. He later graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in French and a master's degree in Pupil Personnel Services.
He taught conversational French at North Junior High in Bloomfield, NJ. Then he served as a guidance counselor at Nyack Junior High before moving to South Orangetown Middle School. Both schools are located in Rockland County, NY, where he lived with his family in Nanuet. He was also a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfield Glade.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Wilfing) Ferry; son, David (Jackie) Ferry Jr.; daughters, Michele Ferry and Heather (Adam) Troupe; granddaughter, Jane C. Ferry; step-granddaughters, Amber and Arynn Troupe; nephews, Pierre, Christian and Andre Ferry, and Steven Wilfing; and nieces, France Ferry and Jennifer Glaszewski.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Ferry; and brothers, Raymond and Antony Ferry.
He loved his family, friends, students and fellow teachers and enjoyed singing in church choirs, baking, gardening, travel, photography and hockey.
Services will be held at a later date in Rockland County, NY.
