Carson  Norris


Carson Norris, 80, of Crossville, passed away July 2, 2019. He was born Jan. 5, 1939, in Crossville, the son of Luther and Attie Evans Norris. He worked many years with the Cumberland County Road Department as bookkeeper before serving as road commissioner at large. Later he and his wife Kay owned and operated Fairyland Acres Grocery. After retirement his favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting and every moment spent with grandchildren. He was also a US Navy veteran and attended Liberty Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of more than 48 years, Kay Cardwell Norris of Crossville; son, Tony Norris and his wife Pam of Crossville; daughter, Cynthia Woodlee of Spencer; grandchildren, Allison Norris and Abigail Norris; great-grandchildren, Mikey Wargo, Lexi Norris and Mason Anderson; sisters, Geraldine Story, Jewel Roy and Lorelle Norris, all of Crossville; lifelong friend, William Ross Daves; and his best friend and beloved pet, "Andy."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; brother, Verrill Norris; and special fishing buddies, Roma Swallows, Darrell Roberts and RG Scarbrough.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at Hood Funeral Home. The family received friends on Friday, July 5, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in Green Acres Memory Gardens. The family has respectfully asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Liberty Baptist Church building fund.
