Carol Fuller Davis

August 24, 1931 - December 28, 2018

Carol Fuller Davis Carol Davis, 87, died Dec. 28, 2018, at the Uplands Wellness Center in Pleasant Hill, from natural causes. She was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Oconomowoc, WI, the daughter of Helen and Lawrence Fuller.
She married Calvin Russell Davis Jr. in 1950 and lived in Brookfield, WI, until 1971 when the Davises moved to Birmingham, MI. Carol went back to school and got an associate's degree in early childhood development and worked for almost 10 years at the Bussey Center for early childhood development in Southfield, MI. She also volunteered at Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum as a docent and loved modern art. In 1994 the Davises moved to Fairfield Glade and in 2011 they shifted their residence to the Good Samaritan Society. After Cal's passing in 2016, Carol moved to Fletcher House in Uplands Village, Pleasant Hill. The Davises were members of United Methodist Church of Fairfield Glade for 25 years. During the last two years of Carol's life she attended church services at United Church of Christ in Uplands. She was also an active student of the Course in Miracles.
Carol's many interests included quilting and reading extensively. She was a member of the Friends of the Art Circle Library and met there regularly. In her final years at Uplands, she organized the reading room at Fletcher House, which became a comfortable and viable place to read after her interventions. She was also an avid reader of children's literature and was actively involved in her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's lives, forming meaningful bonds across generations.
She is predeceased by her four sisters and husband Cal. She is survived by children Russ, Susan and Mary Anne; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held later in January at the UCC church at Uplands Village. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Art Circle Library or the Cumberland County Playhouse.

Your mom & dad lived in Ridgewood Neighborhood four years before we moved here. We met Carol quickly. She slipped on our muddy terrain! We had many laughs about that! At that time, everyone who lived in the 11 Ridgewood homes dined together & held many parties. Your mom was the first to invite us for dinner. RIP, Carol. You kept active to the finish line. You will be remembered in your loving family & friends.

Carol and Cal were two very special people. I was blessed to live in their home while attending Cranbrook in the early 90’s. Carol always made me smile, with her charm and humor. She was a talented quilter and would often share her favorite children’s books with me. I have so many beautiful memories to cherish. Carol made this world a brighter place and she will be missed. May the love and memories shared bring you comfort.

I have so many lovely memories of my Aunt Carol. One included her desire to motivate little one’s love of reading. She had her book bag filled with books she had made by taking paper, using construction paper as the “cover” and sewing a binding down the middle. She would distribute these little books to my children encouraging them to be authors!! They had such fun writing their own books and illustrating them. I have adopted this creative idea myself! Thank you, Aunt Carol! Love you
