Billie McCarley LaBorde, 87, of Fairfield Glade, TN, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at the Cumberland Hospice House in Crossville. Billie was born Feb. 19, 1930, in Yazoo City, MS, the daughter of William Dowden McCarley and Hazel Genevieve Giddens.
In 1948, Billie married the love of her life, Guy Joseph LaBorde Jr., and lived all over the United States and overseas. They raised three children and nurtured six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Billie often looked back on her life saying, "We've had a good life."
Family and friends were Billie's passion and delight. She was whip smart, strong, an eager adventurer, an effortless entertainer and a loving companion to Guy, her husband of 69 years. Billie is remembered fondly by those who knew her for her generosity of spirit and wonderful cooking. She loved playing bridge, golf, bocce and doing her daily crossword puzzles. Billie could often be seen taking her daily walks around the Glade with her friends. She gave back to her community by volunteering at Cumberland Medical Center and through her fundraising efforts for Cumberland Hospice. She was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade, TN.
Billie is survived by her loving husband, Guy LaBorde; sons, Donald J. LaBorde of South Carolina and Richard P. LaBorde of California; daughter, Beverly L. Lavoie of Virginia; and her sister, Ann Goodwin of Louisiana. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
