Andrew M. Stamps, 97, of Cookeville, TN, passed from this life Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville.
He was born Thursday, Dec. 18, 1919, in Mayland, TN. He was the son of John D. and Ida Mae (Hill) Stamps.
Andrew was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather and friend to everyone that knew him. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was always proud to stand and sing his praises. He was of the Freewill Baptist Faith. He loved and had a special God given talent to sing. He had lead singing at many, many churches in the area, and was always willing to volunteer his singing abilities at numerous nursing homes.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Roy Stamps of Cookeville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel (Jackson) Stamps; second wife, Stella Irene (Price) Stamps; daughter, Diane Robinson; and sons, Dean and Don Stamps.
Funeral services for Andrew will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017, beginning at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with the Bro. Tony Barnett and Bro. Harold Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Sand Springs Memorial Cemetery in Putnam County. A Masonic service will also be held Friday, July 14, beginning at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, July 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Andrew has asked that instead of flowers, please make donations to the Mustard Seed Ranch.
